How to use the timer

  1. Enter the number of players, the starting stack and how long the tournament should last – or pick a quick setup.
  2. The timer suggests a blind structure: the first big blind is a hundredth of the stack and the blinds grow so the tournament ends on time.
  3. Start the clock. The levels change by themselves; a sound plays a minute before a level ends and when a break begins.
  4. For a TV switch to full screen. The clock keeps running even if you close the page and open it again.

How the blind structure is built

The big blind starts at a hundredth of the starting stack and climbs an even ladder of values so that at the planned end it is about a fifteenth of all the chips in play. A break comes after every N levels, and three spare levels follow the planned end. The timer does not count antes – if you play them, add a big blind ante from the middle of the tournament.

Frequently asked questions

Is the timer really free?
Yes, with no sign-up and no ads. Your setup and the running clock are kept only in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere.
How long should the levels be?
For a home tournament 15 to 20 minutes. Shorter levels speed the tournament up and leave more to luck, longer ones leave more room to play.
Which starting stack should I choose?
10,000 chips is practical. The chip values don't matter, the ratio of stack to blinds does: a bigger stack lasts longer and gives more play.
Can the timer run on several phones at once?
This timer runs in one browser. In a Poker Tracker group the clock runs on every phone and the TV at once and the server changes the levels. Starting a group is free.

Playing regularly?

In Poker Tracker the timer runs on every phone and the TV at once, the payouts count themselves and the whole season has a leaderboard and a final. Starting a group is free.
