League

A poker league with friends: season, points and a final

Playing regularly? A league gives every night more meaning: each tournament adds points to the season's leaderboard and the best players meet in a final at the end.

How a league works

A season is a series of tournaments – one a month or every week. Each tournament is played for its own prizes and also gives the players points for their places. The points add up in the season's leaderboard.

Points for places

In Poker Tracker every player gets as many points as their place counted from the bottom: the first one out gets 1 point, the winner as many as there were players. A bigger tournament gives more points and every place a player survives counts. For example, with eight players the winner gets 8 points, the runner-up 7 and the first one out 1.

Equal points

With equal points, more games played decide, then higher winnings and finally the older account. The leaderboard says what decided next to such a player.

Season prizes and the final

Each season tournament can put a small fee towards the final. After the expenses and the prizes for the leaderboard's best are taken out, the fees make up the final's prize pool.

At the end of the season the leaderboard's best players qualify for the final – usually eight, the group sets the number. If someone can't come, the next player in the standings takes the seat. The final is played as an ordinary tournament for the whole final pool.

Tips for a fair league

  • Agree in advance how many tournaments the season has and how missed nights count.
  • Keep the same buy-in and blind structure so the tournaments are comparable.
  • Record the results during the night – who went out and when – so nothing has to be pieced together later.
  • Announce the season prizes and the final's fee at the start.

A league in Poker Tracker

  1. Start a group for free and invite the players with a link or a QR code.
  2. In the season's settings choose the final's fee, the season prizes and how many players reach the final.
  3. Play season games: the clock, buy-ins, eliminations and payouts run in the app.
  4. The leaderboard counts itself and at the end of the season the app sets up the final.

Poker Tracker only records your tournaments: it collects no buy-ins and pays out no prizes. The organiser is responsible for the game complying with the gambling laws. Online poker is played for play chips with no monetary value – they cannot be bought or exchanged for money.
